Why Sustainability Reached A Ceiling – And What Comes Next
PUBLISHING sEPTERMBER 2026
Our Common Future-Now examines why sustainability has reached a ceiling. Despite decades of commitments, targets and innovation, progress remains constrained by the assumptions, incentives and business systems that created today’s problems.
Drawing on more than forty years inside the sustainability challenge, Kenneth Alston offers a practical way forward. The book shows leaders how to identify the beliefs holding progress back, move beyond incremental improvement and make circularity part of how value is created.

About Me
Hi, I’m Ken. I have spent more than forty years working inside the systems businesses are now trying to change. My career has taken me through corporate sustainability, innovation, circular business models and executive advisory work, giving me a practical view of why promising ideas so often struggle to become business reality.
Through Circularity Edge and Real Circularity, I help leaders uncover the assumptions limiting progress and make better decisions about sustainability, circularity and AI-supported work. I am the author of Our Common Future-Now and Perfectly Wrong, and co-author of Real Circularity. I continue to explore these questions through my research, speaking and podcast conversations.
